But feel free to assert that if you must
If farm marketplace charged me an equivalent percentage fee then it would still be more expensive
Think I was asked who supplied it not the name of my buying group
Dynamic pricing - that is what this is - has one aim. To maximize revenue. Ie farmers lose.
I have replied to that questionI didn't ask for the name of your buying group. Just who supplied the products your bought or were quoted on. As I said, Farm Compare is 100% anonymous so feel free to submit there if you want to know how good your buying is.
Not sure why you think secrecy is good for farmers. It isn’t.

So why take part in the secrecy when it isn’t good for you? Because you have been convinced it is, by the exact companies who use it to maximise revenue.
I have never said anything other than I pay a sub for access to prices, my attitude to secrecy is something you are inferring.I didn't ask for the name of your buying group. Question.
would you shop at a supermarket that ?
If so I totally understand the merits of buying groups
- Charged you an entrance fee at the door
- Had no prices on the items on the shelf ............... but just told you they would be well priced, you will only find out the actual price long after you use the product
- Charged you an admin fee at the checkout
- Threatened to never let you in again if you dared share what price you paid for anything ............ why is that ?? sounds somewhat dodgy to me personally!
- Insisted you bought exclusively from them on at least a couple of your main product groups
- couldn't actually GUARANTEE they would always be cheapest
Only thing I think they do well / offer is simplified admin and credit, at a cost of course
i am under no obligation to buy from my buying group.I buy some products from Farm Marketplace and others from elsewhere, I like and value the ability to shop around and get the best price on each product I need
I've looked at buying groups many times in the past and never found one that offered me a better price but usually, hey demanded I bought exclusively from them BEFORE telling the prices ................ call me old fashioned but I don't like the idea of that much!
Why do you think buying groups insist upon secrecy? surely they would want to promote their better prices and therefore gain more members? ................... maybe best to not think about why that is too much
i have already described my purchasing experience and it is nothing like the above.Question.

I'll have a bite at this!
- Admin staff are professionals who require remuneration in return for their services to the group. Are you running Farm Marketplace with volunteers?
- I usually know the price at the time of ordering but not always. I've never been ripped off in 6 years of membership (but see above about Belkar!)
- If the price is dearer at the time of billing a few weeks or months later, but the market falls we get rebates sometimes but not readily allocatable to one particular product. Last year's rebates paid the entire levy and membership fee structure of my group. I'd sooner have a better price first time but the end result is the same on my bottom line.
- Farm Marketplace isn't always cheapest either. See the Liberator discussion above.
- You wouldn't ever have a financially vested interest in running buying groups down, would you?
If I hadn't posted my price from an independent supplier would you have known if your group was doing a good job? We all need a range of options to prevent to much control in the marketplace . That price was delivered from Suffolk right down to Cornwall, something Chris and tff cannot seem to manage!I'll have a bite at this!

i have already described my purchasing experience and it is nothing like the above.
i see a range of prices offered by well known distributers, before buying and then pick the cheapest.
it generally arrives within 24 hours.
have never been threatened.
i am under no obligation to buy from my buying group.
they certainly do not insist on secrecy.
I have already answered this, I am paying my sub for access to these prices. In the past I was told I must buy at least 2 product groups (chem and fert) exclusively fom the groups I was looking at joining and under no circumstance could I share the prices paid or suppliers with anyone
I look forward to you posting your prices on this thread to help others achieve the same if you have no obligation of secrecy
I have already answered this, I am paying my sub for access to these prices.
I will post my prices, they will be from a range of the usual well known distributers.
If upsets you I am sorry.
Thought we were trying to help each not attack each other.
Thought it was helpful to have a many prices as possible on here
So you would rather I didn't post my prices if not going to say where they are from?doesn't upset me
I just don't see any point in posting price and not saying where they are from
to help each other we need to share where we can also get these prices and use our buying power to force more competition and openness in the market
