Chemical prices and secrecy

www.marketplace.farm launched this week and achieved what I believe was big first in UK agriculture when it published prices of Chemicals online

The trade reaction behind closed doors has been massive, you cant imagine the politics and pressure being applied to stop this, openness of prices does not suit the established way of supplying thee products with different farms paying different prices through different supply mechanisms

There is an opportunity here for massive change that is in our interest as farmers and also in the interest of many manufacturers who from what I am told are currently dictated to and often controlled by the established distributors

The prices on marketplace are very good and available to all within the current delivery zone, as farmers we really need to support them and establish online buying at good, transparent prices as and option for the way we all want to do business in the future

TFF is trying through this to improve UK farmers, we are making nothing through doing this, I simply want to see the disparity and artificially inflated UK chemical supply market change and become more like it is in other countries

If this fails (which it might) I will make sure every farmer in the UK knows exactly who engineered that downfall and why they did so.

It would be great to see famer power here uniting a bit and voting with their feet to make it clear what they want in the future

Im keen. If its cheap enough ill buy.

shame is delivery area for now on what we have achieved doesn't get as far west as you will. It does cover a big bit of arable Britain

The companies that have been brave enough to support this should be applauded and as an industry they deserve all our support in the future no matter what happens re online prices, they certainly have mine

I'm at Bridgnorth on a WV postcode and you don't deliver to us.

Its a real shame we couldnt get UK wide delivery, but it has to start somewhere and it does cover a lot of arable acres

ask your supplier for these brands though - they deserve our support and if they can see this work i'm sure delivery areas will rapidly expand

Surprised you haven't got Shropshire, probably the second biggest farming county in England

would love to and tried very hard to get nationwide delivery, if we make this work in time we wil do but there are limits as to what logistics can be achieved at launch

as I say though please support the brands that have stuck their neck out here though via your more local suppliers - they really are on the farmers side and I applauded for that

I have just had to remove the prices on marketplace for Ag chemicals

We have a meeting on Monday to find a way forward for those products and hope to have them back available then

anyone who didn't believe how controlled / tied up this market is in the UK had better believe it now and seriously start to question who you are supporting when you buy

so did the vendor (Albaugh) ask to take them off or someone else?

no the manufacturer is to be 100% applauded and supported for their commitment to this as is their distributer

I can't say much more (yet) but we will find a solution and get prices back asap
