Don't let them give you a Light Sussex cockerel. Our neighbour had two (wrongly sexed as pullets!) and both went rogue. I was the only one they wouldn't attack and have a job in the meat trade and so was given the job of netting them, topping them with the air rifle and preparing for coq au vin!
Interesting, we wondered if our Speckled Sussex cock was going for our 2 year old but we never got proof

I'll remember that. Bit if it does turn into a dangerous sh!t of a thing I'm not opposed to turning him into a roast dinner or even taking him back if I think my friend deserves him back :censored:;)

The worst cockerel we had was a Welsummer... beautiful boy but tried to get you through the mesh of the run!
I've killed two splash Andalusian cockerels for being vicious too (can't risk it with the kids around) but the black one we had was a gent, until he got eaten by a fox. Didn't manage to keep a son from him, such a shame.

Can't remember if I said what we ended up with? Got some rough looking ex layers that are just starting to lay again now they have grown feathers back and 2 Heinz 57 unknown breed hens and a similar bred cockerel off a friend who was downsizing. And we already have a chick off them  only the one though one of the hens went broody and not expecting a young cockerel to be able to do the business left one egg under her so she had something to sit on. I've never had a broody hen before so didn't expect her to actually hatch it I thought she would get bored  shows how little I know about hens :ROFLMAO:
