Head of WHO says, on the one hand that new cases seem to be stabilising, while on the other hand is concerned about the appearance of cases outside of China that have no travel history to China. Says it could be the tip of the iceberg. How ambiguous could he be?

This is a new Coronavirus and as yet the experts don't know how deadly it could ultimately be. At the moment it looks to be only invading cells in the upper respiratory tract which makes it unlikely to be fatal to people without an underlying health problem, but it explains the rapid spread just like ordinary seasonal flu. However, as these are RNA virus rather than DNA they very good at mutating and changing rapidly.

I don’t know if the western world are taking this virus serious enough. Even Africa as a whole only get virus testing kits the end of last week! Beijing is pretty much shutdown too now.

Has it reached London Village?

I'm planning doing some panic buying at Costco one night this week!

My wife thinks I'm mad.

Only going to buy a fortnights worth of food but I'm not fighting with people at Tesco for a loaf of bread. I reckon after a fortnight they'll have something sorted out.

If quarantine introduced here we will be fudged. Might make the country appreciate the food we all take for granted.

The bible bashers think "plague" virus will be apocalyptic and is part of the vial judgements, they may well be right, whether you think that's nonsense or not.
As Muck Spreader stated this nasty little virus is mutating very fast and could well go viral and bacterial which frankly doesn't bare thinking about!! 1 million deaths could be a gross underestimate.
There also seems to be a lot of seasonal flus and colds about this year which makes things even more difficult for those trying to contain the virus.

The Chinese government are in a awful quandary, if they push quarantined people to go back to work they are going to spread this virus like wildfire, if they don't get them back to work their economy and indeed the world economy will quickly be in very big trouble.

I read an opinIon piece today in which it was suggested that the cost of shutting China down will soon bypass the cost of just letting it take its course and focus on the treatment and cleanup. That would be my feeling. It's going to spread no matter what anyway.
