A friends wife had a delivery at the yard and she was in his unit to receive it, proceeded to douse it in spray disinfectant while we all looked on and laughed!

I didn't realise the 1918 flu came in two waves, the second more deadly than the first.
Shhhhhh!! Don't ell anyone but we are reliving the 20s...……………..Starts with a powerful flu virus 2019 which then morphs into something even deadlier 2020 and then just as in 1921 saw the German currency go into hyperinflation via the historical Weimar republic event , 2021 will see the euro do it...………….eerie isn't it how time or timing repeats itself:oops:

I bought something from eBay last week and it said uk seller
PayPal receipt was in bloody Chinese
When it arrived in the poly bag - I just tossed it in a cabinet unopened (wearing gloves )
It can stay there a while
Went to Sam Turners (local agri store) at lunchtime - very low stock of dust masks and respirators

If you select 'UK only' on ebay it just searches for the UK bit, most eastern sellers say 'we deliver to UK' or similar and the bot picks this up. Hence Chinese goods appear in your search.

some of the crafty chaps must have worked this out now and listed from the UK as I have had stuff delivered from China when selecting UK only

We are going to have to suck it up as I said from the start. Some of us will die , some won’t . As with seasonal flu, road accidents etc. As my neighbour said swine flu seemed to die out when it reached Lincolnshire......probably due to some kind of gene pool mixing years ago.:p

So it's definitely got out. Sizeable break out in South Korea. Iran has five deaths, and they believe it's possible it has spread to every city.?. So that's a huge mess. As for the USA, they have repatriated 300 from the cruise ship. 18 of those have tested positive since landing home, despite the 14 day quarantine on the ship. And our lot are bringing people home too.

The mind boggles at why they thought it would ever be a good idea to bring those people back here.

I still think it has the potential to turn quite nasty. It's one thing to beat people with a whippy stick when they come out of the house in China but entirely different to try the same trick in London/New York etc.

Seems to be multiplying in Italy and Iran. Italy introduced quarantine measures to prevent trouble in supermarkets.

Never did our panic buy trip to Costco! Decided it was irrational. After listening to some experts on R2.

It will be everywhere before long. Just another “flu”. We haven’t exactly had closed borders or even limited air travel to any great extent. It’s getting like “ no deal brexit” in the media. Probably worse listening to predictions of doom for months on end than actually getting a dose.
Crack on and stop when I can’t.

But when random stats are bandied about there seems to be a 1-40 death rate, not exactly normal flu. :nailbiting:

As usual short term economics has won out over any serious measures to stop this virus. International passenger flights have continued largely unabated for 2 months after the virus came to light including into and out of China. How many millions of people have they spread around the world in the that time with only ludicrous temperature checks at airports which detect nothing? The WHO seem only to be spectators of the unfolding crisis. The Chinese have made a huge effort to stop the spread but were too slow in the initial stages.
All in all just about what you would expect really. Incompetence, and short term monetary gain put way ahead of long term strategic management. The needs of the tourism and aviation industry given priority over global public health. Yet again.

Just spoken to a chap, who was on holiday in Oz, for the last month

Every airport in Oz, had thermal cameras, thermometers, lots of hand washing gels, gloves, masks et al

Plus you had to document where you had to been and sign it

Had a 2 night stopover in SK, in Seoul

Same there, but more stringent with masks and gloves to be worn, lots of papers to sign and thoroughly questioned on journeys/contacts

Thermal scanners at airports

Hotel is Seoul had the same, with thermal cameras at hotel entrance, papers to sign, masks and gloves to be worn

Came into Heathrow....................and nothing, zilch,nada

No questioning or papers to sign, as to where you had been

No thermal cameras, nor temps taken, no masks and no hand washing alcohol gels or gloves

Good old UK, no precautions or preparation whatsoever..............he was amazed, compared to other westernised countries
