Chipping

Just seen that the government are bringing in fines for tampering with systems that make vehicles non standard. It also says it is going to apply to non road vehicles.
That will mean no chipping for power increase, dpf removal and the like.

They will have to sign something to say they take full responsibility before they put any of mine on a dyno to check if they have been modified and how far back are they going to go?, plenty of old ford's that have been modified, it isn't just the modern stuff.

And how are they going to police it
Same as they do with trucks? Pull them over on the road and go from there.
Go after those that provide the service? If it applies to non road vehicles too then folks like the Derv Doctor wont be able to say their service is only for non highway use, which I'm guessing is what they do now?
Make it illegal to sell a vehicle that has had its emissions system tampered with.
MOT's
I'd say there's lots of things they could do, not sure they'd bother though.

So they pull over a tractor. Have they got a laptop with a standard fuel map loaded on it to compare against a 10% power increase that retains the Adblue and keeps the emissions probably better than standard? Their liability if they pug into a ecu would be huge if they were to brick it.

I've no idea how they know whether the systems working or not.
I'm guessing they are going after people that delete the DEF and tamper with other emissions junk rather than just a performance map?

So it’s going to be illegal to modify cars aswell?

sounds like one of them laws where it won’t affect 99% of people who break them but if you live in the wrong area with a police force with a agenda your fecked….
Abit like sheeting muck trailers and strapping loads of bales ect

I’ve heard of them testing lorry’s, but don’t know anyone who has been tested for emmisions
Many many many lorrys are running around with 'tunes' ( or none factory ecu calibrations ) be it for economy or power or just optimised running, BUT with all the emissions gear fully functioning. Is there a problem with these ?
