Chlorhexidine

looking to change to a chlorhexidine based teat spray in an attempt to get rid of some of the warts on our 1st lactation heifers. We currently use a standard iodine 3:1 concentrate and add 5% glycerin in spring and autumn. What are the main benefits of using a chlorhexidine based product?

Not sure it will do anything for warts?

Just swapped from iodine to chlorhexadine purely because of teat condition,an ibc is £595 of chlorhexadine and peppermint it smells like Listerine.:)

That's a good price. Just been quoted £800 from Wynnstay. Rang your lot and they won't deliver to me ..... is it actually made by them with their label or could it be like Progene?

Marcus, see if they will drop another one here as well, or as Sam says we can send a "currier",, or even a carrier or courier;)

Just get a currier to collect it from them

This was my next question but they didn't seem very intereStwd. I wanted to ring round locally first to see if there was enough difference to be worth chasing.

We've been on the 3 to 1 in the past and was ok but didn't realise how bad our test condition was until moving to what were on now. Been offered the next stage up with a bit more iodine + lanolin in for £619 which seems a good deal but tried a sample of the chlorhexidine on one cow who had terrible tears and it was incredible.

My issue is I don't want to get sucked into spending more just because milk price has come up. That said, if a cow is lame she's no good so we trim them so why make cut backs on arguably one of the most important areas

I'm surprised they won't deliver as mine came via a palletline type courier.

Maybe you didn't talk with the right person?

Can't remember the maker, think I have it in a text somewhere.
