Currently using a small foamer (same size as the garden sprayer) to put on teat dip. Great coverage and very little spilling.
I used to use it all year then as my housed period got shorter I moved to an iodine barrier dip for winter and this year I've stayed on the barrier dip so far. It's far better for teat condition than the chlorhexidine but is dip only, not spray.
Do you use the ecolab one that leaves a film?
That's what I have used for a couple of years, after have problems with the chorlhexidine dip I was using at it was stripping the skin off the teats. No it's a Deosan one, i think it's called active barrier. There's no real evidence of it by next milking except that the tests feel slightly greasy and are a bit stained orange.
2 days in and teat condition has noticeable improved already
Teat condition, persistency of action and generally good kill of pathogens.looking to change to a chlorhexidine based teat spray in an attempt to get rid of some of the warts on our 1st lactation heifers. We currently use a standard iodine 3:1 concentrate and add 5% glycerin in spring and autumn. What are the main benefits of using a chlorhexidine based product?
Kenocidin - Pearce Dairy. What make is the chlorhexadine peppermint dip
I'm amazed at the difference in a week, 3/4 cows with cracked teats have completely healed . Is there any downside to chlorhexidine?
Use Chlorhexine ( Evans Four Seasons Masodip) think its brilliant for teat condition, and seems to do the job for us annual SCC around 100, but dose nothing to get rid of warts. Trust me I know! and I wish I didn't.looking to change to a chlorhexidine based teat spray in an attempt to get rid of some of the warts on our 1st lactation heifers. We have all sorts of warts including some very large ones , pin pong ball size +. Wish I knew how to get rid of those, can see them just starting on heifers we are bulling now.

I juse spray the stuff but ours is minty and smells lovely The greeny blue colour does make the teats look like they've got hypothermia though
