There will be no means of controlling ramularia in barley, and little or no protection for SDHIs etc in wheat so in this case we could end up with no fungicides..

How much of a problem does this present to you cropping guys? An article in the guardian says it's tye most widely used pesticide in the UK. Sounds bad.
It’s a very useful chemical, it works and it’s cheap. It would be interesting to know what the current Recommended list for wheat and barley would look like if CTL wasn’t used for the treated plots. Are the AHDB going to drop it from this years trials so we might gather some more useful data for our brave new world?
Gone will be the days of seeing a clean crop top to bottom unless it’s a really dry time.

The UK didn’t vote against its revocation ....and we will have left the EU. So why are we going on as though the EU ban is a lost cause ?
Because the decision has been made before we have left and as things stand the UK has agreed to abide by decisions made before departure. But on the other hand nothing else we have been told seems to turn into reality so who knows. I expect it to go, if it doesn’t the so much the better.

Harms bees, so authorities, EU, Uk or USA will have a hard case arguing to retain ctl. Big question mark over future of all fungicides. Let's hope plant breeders can boost resistance...

Out of sight is out of mind. Just import the food from elsewhere with no questions asked seems to be the current default policy. Just do it cheaply and get the environmental problem offshore! :inpain:

I’m not worried. I think the way these things are being banned it is clear grain production will reduce in the western EU. The way the politicians talk is that we can revert to pre chemical farming methods whilst retaining a cheap “base” source of food, presumably from north and South America’s . Fine until there’s a problem there.

Continental EU is in drought. So is Scandinavia. It could be a year to refocus minds. We all know wheat touched £200/t last June at the sniff of a slight problem. If we have genuine problems tariffs will not be a concern, forget about “access to markets” buyers will simply want “access to product “ !
