Just a reminder that the final use-by date is Wednesday 20 May 2020 (UK and EU), after which it will be illegal to spray CTL.

Make sure the stores are empty by this date.

What are people planning to use in its absence?

Folpet? Manozeb? I can’t get myself interested in using either of them at the moment and paying more for a poorer product. Luckily I’m in a relatively dry area, but it will still be a challenge in years to come. This years T2 will be straight Revystar. How long its efficiency lasts without CTL to back it up as resistance management has to be a worry.

Depending on the trials we will likely use folipet or mankezeb in 2021 we need to protect the other chemistry
also growing the most resistant varieties on the list
a 2012 wet year with a susceptible variety and no ctl the fungicide will need evey bit of cultural control we can muster

but this year need to use up the ctl by May 20

No problem using it up before 20th here. Probably will use folpet in future. Not sure how long we will have mancozeb for.

What would you recommend for T1 in spring barley usingCTL?

I'm not an agronomist.... but I'd use a litre of CTL at T2 normally as that's when ramularia is more likely but staying the right side of 20th May would force its use at T1 if you needed to use up stocks. I haven't looked up what else I could save at T1 by using CTL but I don't think it's much.

Folpet and mancozeb are too expensive and not good enough. If they think it’s that important for resistance management then the price needs to come down. Next year t2 will probably just be a half dose of revystar (dose rate doesn’t affect fungicide resistance like in herbicides, it’s amount of times exposed)

I have two more applications left, Rover + teb on feed beans and T1 on SB ( with 0.4 of Siltra, I’d look to a saving later if it goes dry again ) then it’s gone, EPZ next year too

I started spraying 22 years ago and CTL and EPZ have been staples through that period, there’s not much else from then left that we regularly use, Teb, glypho, cyper, PDM maybe ??

It will be the day to put it on for sure. That's the ridiculous this about this. Why couldn;t the date be august to allow us a full season of use. Why stop it half way though - shows how little common sense there is in this process.
My thoughts exactly.

Would anyone who knows a bit about this have 5 minutes to chat via pm please? Could you 'Inbox' me/reply if so - just a quick question I'd rather discuss privately.
I'd be very grateful if so, cheers
