Chuck for impact driver

Thinking about getting a chuck for my DeWalt impact driver so I can drill holes without having to take a separate cordless drill out with me. I could get a set of hex shank drills, but I don't think these are too common. Don't need great accuracy, so don't think the torque action would be a problem. Anyone use one ?

I had the same problem; I only wanted to carry my 12 V impact driver with me on a new hospital build, I was mostly driving screws into drywall slabs. Wanted to drill the odd 6/10/20 mm hole in plastic.

Couldn't source one online so pulled the chuck off an old drill and ground a 1/4 " hex into the shaft attaching gearbox to chuck.

It actually worked quite welI, don't need it anymore. I'd happily send it to you if you'd pay the postage

or better tother way around i reckon, just take the cordless drill instead and do all. gentler if required and more controllable for all types as well.

Just bought a Makita hex chuck. Will be using it on wood for pre drilling screws, not used in anger yet.

HMT Versa drive itself is not a 1/4 inch shank and they will break the same as any other make of drill bit but are a good ten times the cost.
