Hello. My name is Alex. We're making short movie in october in England. The problem is that now is september, while shooting will begin in october. Can you help and give an advice: is this possible to find wheat field in october? Is it not to late and all fields are harvested? Maybe not wheat, but some other sowing culture? Thanks in advance.

Doubt you’ll find much in October. If you do it might not look as you’ve pictured it as it will have turned a bit black by then.
Unless you’re talking about a new sown crop? Lots of little green plants??
There’ll probably still be maize (sweet corn) to harvest. And fodder beet, stubble turnips.
Most other crops will have been harvested and new ones planted

What exactly are you after?

In general we need a field with 'spikes', 'ears'. It does not matter what it will be in particular. Wheat. Oats. Rye. Something like this.

We have got a field of spring barley left to cut. could leave it until October for the right money (obviously paid up front).

That's a good option. Where is this field? What's the size of the field? Do you have photos? To share google maps coordinates of that field is a nice option

Why some messages are deleted? Some forum rules offended? ... Nevertheless there was a copy of messages in email. So, sir Mixedupfarmer, I've continued our little conversation via email.

Anyone else? To buy some part of a field is an option. It's a short movie, not full-length. So budget is low. But it exists and paying for damage is a real deal. This is not a joke. All is serious. We (as a tiny group of cinematographers) need 1 and half hectares of field in first dates of october. Wheat. Barley. Oats. Rye. Something like this.

I think some of the messages were light hearted due to the fact, we have had an extremely early harvest over the bulk of the country. Most farmers would like to see all combinables cleared before this date in an average year too. I would guess, you Alex Ros, are city based and have not noticed the nearly universally cleared crop
My one real piece of advice would be to the farmer, having a limited experience of film makers, see the colour of the money first, before leaving any crop. Sorry to be cynical but have had an advert filmed on my property and seen nothing in return
Good luck to you all.

Yes I understand. Prepay is absolutely possible.
As for universally cleared crop, yes, I was reading a lot about harvesting seasons and I do know october is too late. That's why I am here asking maybe someone for some reasons did not harvested yet

Some CSS schemes have the option for crops to be left unharvested through til spring. I've never actually seen anyone with that option though.

go North Alex, there'll still be standing crops as you get further from the equator -well, for a given value of the word standing. Certainly I flew over cereals uncut north of the border last week

Are you sure about Scotland? Because Im not English and specifically for that project making Britain visa. So if you say go to Scotland, in october they have lots of fields not harvested, for me it means to check about scottish visa

If you've got a visa for the UK, you'll be OK in Scotland - we've not got checkpoints on the border (yet:eek::p:p)
