Claas arion 650 disappointing performance

when we used to pdi one used to think there was somthing wrong with one, if you went from a t3 640 to t3b 650 big let down claas had a go at tweaking them but didnt make much difference
Class marketing cocked up on the model numbers when they went to the new shape , if you had a 620 and upgraded to a 630 next on the new shape it wasn’t any bigger you needed to go two models up to get a comparative next model up .
Especially on the 4 cylinder models the 530 was no better that the old 520 for extra cost .

I agree, I haven’t felt it lacking in the field. Pulls a 4m Freeflow around no problem at all up and down hills, 4m cultivator etc.
I thought the trailer brakes were binding, but on a small slope in the yard the whole unit rolled easily so there can’t be too much resistance.

Not keen on mapping, to be honest it may well have sealed its fate. I’ve been considering changing it for a while, I may have to consider is a bit more seriously now. I just wanted to see if mine was a pup, or they were all like it!
Most stuff after about 2012/13 is pretty disappointing I've tried a good few different breeds on demo and ran a 2015 arion 650 but unless you get 40hp more than you think you're gonna need the older stuff just pulls better than the new equivalent

Have you had it dyno'd?

No, but I think that would be worthwhile to see what she’s actually putting out.

It does seem that way. I think if I stay with claas it will need to be the 800 series to keep up with what I need it to do. However, it’s likely it won’t be claas again after running this for a few years.

Must have had some good trailer brakes. 1290 would struggle to stop trailer empty.
Trailer brakes?

It'll be a pipe into the tractor spool 🙄🤣

If you think the 6 cylinder claas is lethargic with the hexashift, don't try the vario cmatic.....

Demo'd a 630 cmatic 4 years ago. Absolutely gorgeous machine to drive.

My 120hp Deutz k series pulled the dung spreader and cut grass faster 😱

I test drove a 650 cmatic at a dealers few years ago and liked it enough until I was told the price. It was dearer than the equivalent fendt.

That would have been a none add blue engine with very poor power delivery characteristics ? I have a 6125r and in all honesty JD were ignorant not to have used add blue as engines performance with add blue are so much better now and especially low Rev torque.

I was more thinking the very last of the 30 series JD's as ours will run rings round any equivalent R even with add blue on they're still very flat in comparison. The claas 650 was woeful on power I've a mate runs one and he said I was talking crap until he replaced his 10 plate 640 with a 650 he's pretty disappointed now

Friend has a 630 Claas.
Gutless tractor he says and the electrics are akin to the wiring on the Ark! It was cheap but still wishes he hadn't ever seen it!

Door latches fall off fixed that again and then locked its self luckily passenger door was open. Alternator doesn’t seam to pump enough volts / amps to drive all the extra electrical stuff. Air con is shockingly bad ... claas arion 650 please improve asp. Also bit sluggish but they do hang on for ever.

Local contactor has an 18 plate 650. Constant issues with it, mostly electrical, air con worked about 50% of the time, eventually a new roof module sorted it. Engine now looses its boost for no reason, switch off n on & it boosts again. Has also said its woeful in top gears on the road, the transmission seems to absorb alot of power. He's about to retire and won't be sorry to see it go.

Makes me glad I hung on to my 10500 hour 640...... still on original Mitch tyres..... it was a pain in its younger days , electrical gremlins, but has been a good long term tractor and still nice enough to drive.......... but I do spend time in an MB Trac 😢
What trac do you run?

Aircon leaves a lot to be desired, have mine re gassed every year but struggles to do the job in the summer. Transmission jumpy and whines like mad it 5th gear of every range, most notably C5 which is 12k at Fert spinner pto revs, find it very wearing. Door won’t latch nicely no matter how I adjust or oil it. Used to think the ride was good but even that seems to have worsened over time. May just be mine, but even with multi filtered diesel, I am going through fuel filters like they’re going out of fashion these days -having to change them every 100 hours.
I do like the fanning out of the rads for blowing out, and the front suspension is good, but I doubt I’ll have another.
