Claas header reel modification

So an update, got new tines today £6 each with 6 on each side, so 12 in total and £72 all in.

How did you fit them too the other side of the reel?

Sorted now! Dealer has had 4 people ring up today asking for them, and they’ve managed to locate some now. They didn’t even know what they were this morning!

How did you fit them too the other side of the reel?

Wasn’t just as simple, I had to remove the end piece and drill and tap it and secure with an M10x20 bolt, see pics below. The problem with this though, was it needed to be a left hand tread to stop them loosening when in use so ended up putting a tack of weld to hold them in place, which worked well finding the left hand tines moving a bit now, even thought they tighten when in work, but welding them on that side doesn’t work as the end piece it not fixed and more just a spacer. Anyone able to resolve this? Will get some pics of them welded in the morning.

I got a pair yesterday too, had to get a new bush as well tho to fit the tine on with tho, I didn’t take a picture but they have a smaller 8 mm hole through them and a square on both end to stop the tine turning. When I go to the combine I’ll take a picture. Only drawback is that they are around £50 so they said in the stores.

Would be interesting to see the new bushes. Can you get them for both sides? Pics of mine below, bolted and a tack of weld to stop them moving.

you will always have them move with a round bolt in a square hole. you need to either swap to the bush with the square on the end or weld them, left hand thread or not.

A line of weld down each side would mean that they wouldn't come loose, no need to even remove the bush, just grind them off when (if) they wear out.

I got a price for some last week for the older style header and was quoted £320ish each side. Needless to say I didn't bother with them.

Good old reasonably priced parts from Claas!! That's ridiculous £640!!

Anything laid or brackled spring barley seems to hang in corners of the header and drive up, these help keep that area clear. Also in hybrid WB and rye it can cut the crop and let it fall over the side,these help that also IME

We have the same problem, heavily brackled WB just hangs on corner of bed. Tried every variation with dividers

Yep we did the same long short very long taken off but nothing worked.
