'100 years of Claas' feature at New Deer show today/tomorrow, sorry i didn't look to see what models these were, but I'm hoping to go tomorrow too:

What is this 100 years of Claas thing , our 1980 Senator has a sticker on the side saying "50 years of Claas Combines 1930-1980"

It's 100 years since Mr Claas started making machinery, I didn't catch what the announcer (someone from Claas UK) said was the first machine made, would they have made binders or threshing mills? There was a little low-density baler there but I don't know how old it was

60.000 of these 'wrap around' JF combines were build. Certainly a popular machine for small farms. Plus a lot of people will remember the DB model and JF combine toy models from Corgi I reckon! Here's a photo: http://otc-k.net/jf.jpg

I've got one of those in my cupboard. Earned it by demonstrating them in the early 80's. The best demo was with an IH dealer Hesfords's of Garstang, down on the Fylde. It was with an IH hydro tractor - superb for the combine! Still see one sitting in a shed close to the new Morrisons distribution centre in Bridgwater!

That's interesting.
Thought the Columbus was later
But it seems they were sold at the same time.
We're they actually the same model with different names for different markets.
The Europa was the smallest sold in the UK I believe, our neighbours appeared tiddly compared to our 8 foot Mercury :)
