Claas parts

One of the themes that occasionally pops up on here is that Claas combine parts are expensive.

Does anyone have any examples or figures that back this up ??

I know from previous quotes that maxi-care was more expensive than the NH dealers own warranty for like for like cover, but I'm interested in parts prices and servicing costs, as I'm looking at a new combine to have a 10 year life here which could add up to a significant amount over that period...

This could be interesting. I personally can’t say NH parts are very sensibly priced. Have found two parts so far that have been 3-4x OEM price which rather grates.....when often it’s a protected part so you have no choice.

Any main dealer parts are expensive, it nor a case of how often you need to buy them.
I usually spend around £1500 on over winter service and repairs on my 560 but do all the work myself, if I got the dealer to do it you could probably double or triple it. I’d say the same for any othe colour though having worked on a few.
Parts in general are very expensive but you have to shop around where possible. As @Barleycorn has said above dealers are very expensive, I’ve also just replaced the pump on my krone bigpak £300 from a dealer £60 from kramp ag.

I know it's naive but you would think that manufacturers would appreciate the fact that we have invested our hard earned in their product, and not repay our loyalty by ripping us off.

I think you mean we have haggled them down so much that they have to make their money from parts.

Claas give you a parts book so you can look things up on the net. There are big savings to be made such as for starters, alternators and bearings. I like Claas combines, I reckon they are the best!

You would if they want you to buy another one.

It gets worse if you need a dealer to fit parts too - rarely change from £500 labour in many cases if you're stuck.

Pity nobody has invented a used combine warranty scheme like they do for cars.

Dunno, we've just bought a 'second hand approved' Skoda from a main stealer with a years warranty. There's a whole page of things that it doesn't cover, basically anything that could go wrong!
