Claas Scorpion

I have a 2016 Claas Scorpion 7035.
A couple of times now we've had a problem with the pick up hitch resulting in the machine only being able to travel at snail pace.
I believe that Claas/Kramer is having problems stopping this recurring.
Has anyone else experienced this?
My work taking twice as long, coupled with my local dealers service dept not being quite what it was and I'm getting seriously dischuffed!

Had a demo machine out this month - 7035 16plate. The pickup hitch was broken! The brakes were rubbish and it was gutless on the road. Needless to say, I have put my order elsewhere.

I've had it,it's a raw pin that holds a pin in place that triggers a switch to tell it that the hitch is up. I've been shown how to sort it but I've not had to since it went. To many sensors on modern kit but as it's a safety one I guess it's ok but as you say boy it's slow.

Yes exactly that.
I hope that I have time tomorrow to watch the mechanic. If I don't I can predict that it will go again at Christmas when they are shut and we're flat out.

Drop your hitch and have a look you might be able to see where it's out of line I just looked at mine but as it's ok I can't remember exactly what to look for this does not bode well if it goes again:unsure:

On my previous Scorpion you could damage the hitch if you inadvertently drove far with it down (the pins could slide out). So the new ones have a system that won't let it go out of the slowest of the three ratios until the hook is up.
All very good until it goes wrong and the Claas mechanics can't be with you until the next day.
Bit of a pain when you've a lot of livestock relying on it!

We had the same issue and there's a pin that goes through the hook and the ram, (I think from memory) which has a magnet on one end of it so that the sensor knows the hitch is in the locked position. This is held in position with a roll pin, to stop it from pivoting. The roll pin had come out on ours so that the magnet rotates then the sensor thinks the hitch is down so it stays in creep mode.

Much better explanation than mine(y)

So presumably to get access to the roll pin I need to lower the hitch? It does not work as normal (just like last time it happened) so how do we get the hook down? Put a jack under it, then try and move the latch hooks? (they might move if the hitch is jacked up).
I reckon i'm reasonably handy with spanners for a stock farmer (which isn't saying a lot) but time is the issue.

This one here is only 2 speed, not a bad idea having something to stop people driving with hook down, someone I used to work for drove with hitch down, caught on a hump and ripped it off !

Not sure how, as the mechanic already had it down before I was there, but can you take off the sensor from the side of the p.u.h and turn the pin from the side, then reassemble to release it?

Claas Kramer Scorpion 6030 CP - PUH packs up randomly - esp in severe frosts or after pressure wash.

Assume it is electrics relay or junction. Had Claas fitter out before Xmas - he couldn't find cause, wanted to rewire whole thing (sounded expensive & time consuming) so we left it, & 2 days later cured itself!

Happened again this week, bl**dy annoying - so does anyone know how to mend it?

PS - no sensor on our PUH, so taken on board warning about driving around with it down!

Our old cp had same problem always random though did not use hitch much as it did not have enough power to pull a lot .New 635 in a different league.

Thanks, & agree about lack of power, but certainly v. stable. We don't use it for too much hauling work, still have a loader tractor for that (bit extravagant, but getting too old to mess about!)

Seems electrics is a problem with the Scorpion. We had trouble with the 3rd service on the boom (it started undoing the attachments - bit worrying - so we fitted a manual valve, & I bypassed the earth wire on the boom cable, which was causing the problem.

I'd still welcome any advice on PUH hydraulics - I think the Trailer tipping service also fails, as it uses same supply.... must check next time it happens.... usually too busy trying to get a trailer on or off !
