Looking at that photo on a wet miserable evening gives a warm nostaglic feeling thinking back everything seemed simpler weather was better and we were definitely younger. Any more photos from the era ?

Right, back to the clapped out Senator. Does anyone know what the correct name or ideally part number is for the pair of belts that drive the header? As per the expertly drawn-in diagram below:

There ought to be 2 but there is only one, and it doesn't look all that healthy. I thought whilst the machine is laid up I might as well sort that out too.

Having taken the front wheel off to replace a tyre, the guard behind the wheel was a bit bashed around from when I drove it into the shed with a flat / split tyre, and I am hoping it was that (as well as the original but now cleared drum blockage), that was stopping the mechanism from engaging properly. It's pulled out okay and doesn't rub any more, but I'm not willing to fire it up whilst it's sitting on a jack, so I'll wait until I've got the new tyre on to try it.

The new tyre has been lost in the post, surprisingly for such a large item. I am managing to draw the end of my harvest out as far as possible, which, to be honest, is driving me mad.

Thanks guys, as I have said before, this forum is so useful to someone new to farming. I need to check what model of Senator it is before buying the belts, I think it's a 70 but I might be wrong. The user manual I have for it is for a Mercator, in case the picture above confused anyone.

I might still have my training/repair manual for a Senator 85, it was one of the first manufacturers training courses I did at Newbridge, Edinburgh when it first opened.
