Running a Lexion 540 at present and require 30% or so more ouput. Anyone running a Tucano 570,preferably the 2016 model, with the single rotor. Not sure we can get the output from the straw walker combines so we may have to go up to the hybrids to achieve 40t/hr in 10t/ha wheats!!

No one got a Tucano 570 then?
What about your mates mate has he tried one:whistle:

How would a Lexion 670 compare to our current 540 which has same internals with a 120hp less?
Engine power has never held us back, its usually the walker loss that governs output so not sure we will get 30% more t/hr we require without going to rotors.

Don't have one or know of a mates mates dog that has one but local dealer to us says they are seriously underrated and if you don't want the whistles and bells of a lexion but want the output of a small rotary they are the business. And no I don't sell them infact we run a NH9080E rotary so no axe to grind and like it!

Probably ruled out the Lexion 600 walker machines. With hindsight we should have tried a Tucano 570 on demo. The drum on a Tucano 570 is 120mm narrower than the one we have but the rotor will continue to 'thrash' whereas the walkers do little?
About 50hp more as well but I guess you could use all of it which we don't at the moment.
They have updated the Tucano's recently eg Turret unloading auger, not the low slung one!
Thanks for your comments

There's a Tucano 480 not far from me. Previous machine was an axial flow. Not heard any grumbles at all. Good output in wheat. Claas don't really push the marketing of them as they are seriously underrated and out perform the smaller and considerably more expensive Lexions

There is a tucano next door to me, don't know the number on the side I'm afraid.

It was new this year, replacing a 5 year old tucano. Certainly flies up and down the field keeping trailers busy. Will see him this week an ask about it.

When you visit Claas's website the Tucano's don't appear on their product list. A search is required to find the info which is comphrehensive. So your thinking about pushing the more expensive Lexion's first is confirmed?
Better to sell a Tucano than nothing.

Tucano is 450mm and lexion is 600mm drum in diameter I think that in dry conditions Tucano 570 would have the edge over lexion 650 but in green straw and rape the lexion would be better. Have baled behind both and tuc 570 has a triangle row so stick with a walker if your baling or buy a nh

Is that all day everyday in wheat as that's lexion 750-760 territory depending on your field size? A 760 is 450tons a day in the shed on average a good day will see 500 easily.

Tried a 480 tucano the previous model and an old lexion 480 was miles in front when it wasn't broken hence the tucano but it was simple and kept plodding on

@Godber Thread revival time: After having a Tucano 540 Vario on demo this year how are users are getting on with their 400 (walker) and 500 (hybrid) series combines?

The 540 seemed to make a good job (couldn't fault it tbh), lots of really nice design tweeks.
Does the hybrid rotary bring a lot more to the party, or does it have it's limitations in damp crops?
If anyone knows of a larger Tucano Vario for sale (<5 years +/-, 500-1000 threshing hours +/-) please PM.
TIA.
