This is from the US, but the comment suggests that medical staff would prefer something other than applause...

"St Marys Church, Pakenham

A dress rehearsal for tomorrow night

Perspex blue filters convert the church uplighters in to a towering blue beacon of hope and thanks to all at the NHS on the frontline right now

We all appreciate the dedication and personal sacrifices you are making right now and we are thinking of your worried families too.

From the Reverend Katherine Valentine and all the villagers of Pakenham a heartfelt thank you.

8pm Thursday this week and every week #clapforcarers

A personal note of thanks to John at AllPlastics in Bury St Edmunds for kindly donating the blue filters

PC nonsense.

They are paid to do the job, if they don't like it they should quit!

And yes there is a lot of hardworking staff in the NHS but also just as many that are bone idle and lazy!

If we don't get the economy moving again soon there wont be any NHS by this time next year anyway!

If you've nothing decent to say , say nothing

There's a consultant surgeon living next door self isolating from his own family so he can carry on with his duties

Frankly I think you've gone beyond losing the plot mate

Please retract that GUTH, for your own sake.

Just because there is a lot of very hard working and dedicated staff in the NHS doesn't mean they all are.

And I have the upmost admiration for the NHS staff that are very hardworking/ dedicated.

The governments mantra for this lockdown is :Save the NHS

Well if the NHS hadn't been so badly managed the last 20+ years both by the government and NHS managers it would not now be in the mess it is and the country wouldn't be a basket case for the next 20/30 years that it will be if this lockdown carry's on for long.

Have you seen a picture of him working when he contacted it?

The NHS has very little or any PPE at this time.

Utter disgrace that NHS staff should have to be dealing with this virus without the proper equipment to protect them as much as possible from infection from the virus.

Along with people in care homes NHS staff are the most likely to get infected as things stand.

People who quite rightly are praising the many hardworking and dedicated NHS staff so be asking why the government are not providing them with PPE .
