If something is in short supply the required standards for milling and malting etc will go down. I’m pretty sure most if not all grain could go into a human diet in some form maybe not in a way people may be keen of but when times get tough then things may change.Actually most of the grain that is fed to animals does not make the human food grade and the land on which it is grown is seldom capable of growing human food grade cereals. Otherwise everyone would be growing and selling milling and malting grade cereals.
