Class 656/7

Hi
What's the general opinion of these machines as a simple workhorse. Are they generally reliable, niggly or awful. Also are the Deere engines the old school pre electronic injectors or more techy?
Just looking for something simple that doesn't need a computer to mend as I don't really do more than 350hrs yr.
TIA.

I have a 657 ATZ. it has been reliable and simple to operate. i would recommend it although the gear changes between the ranges can be a bit scary because of the delay. It has 8300 hours on it and the engine seems to be perfect.

I have two 696 one a Renault the other a Claas 13500 hours on the Renault 8500 hours on the Class they are good tractors but not simple. They have ECU's we have had one repaired the injector pumps are not mechanical. But I like them a lot and we still use them most days. I prefer the mechanical gears to the ATZ so in my opinion a 6 is better than a 7.

Good reliable tractor. Engine has electronically controlled injection pump. ECU can suffer from dry joints. Gearbox is reliable and gives very little trouble. BOC switches on clutch pedal play up now and then. To be honest a laptop is needed for diagnostics if something does go horribly wrong .
