We have a single storey portal frame building which we would like to convert in to a dwelling, the external walls are constructed from 215mm hollow concrete block walls, which we would like to retain, unfortunately they are built on footings only 300 deep.
The steel frame would continue to support the roof so the walls would be non load bearing.
Would Building Control insist on underpinning or would this not be an issue? curious to know how others have got on? TIA
