Class rolant 46 Question!

Hi all, after sitting in the shed for 5 years I took the old 46 baler out and the pressure gauge has blown, the screen was white and cracked. Would I be able to blank this off and just use the change in tone of the tractor as a guide without damaging the system?

Going by the forecast I don't have time to wait for the new part!

Cheers

It worked just the job to get the few bales I needed done, just had to keep your wits about you and stop when she started to move the tractor. I'll get a new one ordered before next year.

Cheers for the advice!

I had two of them in the mid to late 90’s and they would both start to crack the door open if you didn’t net the bale. Won’t do any harm at all. Some people did that all the time in order to get larger bales.

Ours would go until something broke. My neighbors one was 5 years newer and had relief valves on the rams
The valves on the rams are check valves, and the relief valve is one half of the cast valve block bolted to the side of baler, possibly yours was incorrectly set? But if you keep baling after pressure is reached the door should just start to open then get to a point where material just goes straight through back onto the ground again no damage should occur.

Or the clutch will jump out

These balers were made when 100hp was the "big" tractor. You heard the engine growl when the pressure built up

On flat ground you didn't need to look at the pressure guage, just listen

Today I've 150hp through a "modern" baler, and the only time the tractor grunts is when at full pressure going steep uphill baling silage
