How do you get the lid off?

If you unbolt the frame from the casting the input shaft and gear should come with it. Might give you more of a clue.
Just be warned the the centre shaft can me be mega tight in the casting. I've had to scrap a machine in the past that wouldn't come apart

The bearing inside is broken. I've taken an arm off but I think to get at it the rotor will have to drop down?

If you take that nut of under your stilson and lift rake up. Rotor should drop. That’s what we did last week on twin rotor. Heat might need to b applied to get it to drop. we had to heat ours and press it out.
