Some photos taken earlier today...

Dad's 880, DB C Type Plough with Ransomes TCN bodies.

Ploughed 5 acres in all, first time out for this plough after being rescued from the brambles, giving her a bit of a polish up!

How did you brighten the breasts up @Selectamatic ?

Or did your dad grease them up really well before he parked it in the brambles:scratchhead:

It was not our old plough, it was one I saw on my travels, winding handles stuck out of the nettles!

They were rusted, but not pitted, at some point I recon the previous owner had given them a rub with an oily rag or such like, they were dirty more than rusted I suppose.

I gave them a quick rubbing with a grinder with a wire wheel on it, then put it in the ground, sandy soil helped shine them up, but I had to jump off at the headlands a fair few times to scrape sticking soil off.

They are not shining properly now, but I would imagine that they will come with more use. :)

good job you didn't say  'perk' them up' :hilarious: might've got :censored: by a mod. ...

we call them plates round here.:)
We're all breast men in this part of the world.:)
Other local plough terminology....
discs are called skeaths
landsides are slipes
shins are throats
sighting poles are wad sticks
and the old chaps don't alter their front furrow width, they alter their 'laynes'
