They seem to be going ever upwards.Just been to a sale today near Morpeth,Northumberland. Y reg TW 20 made £8500.Modified back end as had just been separated from a hedgecutter. Arms to refit. 2004 TM 130 made about £22,000 or thereabouts bought by Rodney Cowle(long way from home).Star of the show,E reg TW35 at about £23,000,a hell of a price i thought. Two McCormicks,07,and 13 reg,185 and X70/ something made about the same.Last week from a nearby farm,an 01 Massey 4270 with loader made £18,700. What are other classic tractors making at other parts of the country?

Last summer I sold a 7000 for £9500. It was in nice order.

That very afternoon one made £21,000 at a farm sale up north.

Bugger.
Would say 9. 5k was too cheap. Seen ones going into the teens and needing a bit of tlc but 21k is over priced. Seen a matching pair being advertised last year. 25k each or 50k for both. Need deep pockets for that.

Is it worth buying a 5000,putting a turbo on and buying some stickers? :)

No idea. Get 2 keen buyers bidding against one another and who knows.😂 Would need to be more reliable than a 9600 I drove many years ago to interest me. 🙄
My 7700 was the best tractor ive ever had.11,000 hours and only had 2 clutches, and a themostat.I cant recall anything else major. Nice to drive in their day, with the gears at the side, and flat floor cab. A 9700 was sold at a Hexham machinery sale a good few years ago,and made about £2500.It was for nothing.Ive often wondered where that tractor ended up.

Drove a 9700 on half tracks on peat scheme. Could not keep half shaft seals in it then it burst the trumpet. Put it back on wheels then. Nice q cab so good to drive. Also drank fuel when working hard but to be honest so did the other machines there.

ive been watching the prices go up since the 1980s? here where i am near the basildon tractor factory, nearly every farm had ford or ford and county tractors, the local farm to me next door in the early 1980s had 7 ford 5000s a couple of counties and a doe dual drive ? I personally think its a nostalga thing these tractors mirrror the rise in values of ford cortinias, capris, escorts, and serria cosworths ? its rather dangerous in my view to buy at these values now to think that they will continue to increase in value?

Yes. Ford seems to increase in value faster than the others tho. Massey Fergusons are creeping up in price as well for the more desirable models. Where will it stop is a question that was asked years ago and so far it has not stopped. Looking back at new prices and what it's worth now it's an investment even after taking years of work out of it.

I think this tractor collecting is generational.probably lots of people used them back in the day and want to own one again.id love a 5000 or something ford of that era but as a tractor lover I’d not want a major oranything pre 70s as it was not my time,if that makes sense.cant see people who are using computer controlled and electric everything tractors today wanting them in 40/50 years time as I can’t see there being any about

I run 2 classic Fords, 7740 and 8340 both SLE. Love them and they get used. Reliable and easy to fix.
Always wanted an MF 135 which always seem pricy and not much work they can do here to earn their keep.
Also loved the MF600 series, but very difficult to find with good condition cabs.
MF 3000 and 6100 series, no thanks. Had both and were very unreliable.

Just have a look at Machinery Pete on Youtube and the prices that US farmers are paying for used tractors, Deeres in particular. It seems they want the older big tractors as they are mechanically much more simple, but still reliable and capable of putting in a good days work.

Serviceable / Classic tractors will keep going up in value as long as there are independent farmers with the mechanical skills to maintain them - When the corporations (Beeswax Etc) get their teeth properly into farming then their value will plummet (n)
