Thanks. It was the first time we used the baler, unfortunately it didn't go that well. The net rap failed on the first bale and then netted some bales before they were full size plus the net failed to cover the whole width. We have taken the knife bar out and sharpened the knives plus cleaned the roller. Will see how it goes next time.
Is it by any chance based on a welgar?

Keep at it - we had a few problems with net on our New Holland baler. A bit of sharpening and a spray of paint on the duckbills helped to grip the net wrap! Dropped our arable silage on Friday. As the crop of barley and outs had peas in it the drum mower and the mower conditioner were out of the question so out came the old Bamlett! Replaced a bearing and went. Had to remove the swath board as it was pulling small clods of soil in. Perfect tool for the job!

Were you using the finger bar to stop losing the grain? How did you row it up, I would have thought rowing it up you would lose more of the grain that way.

We used the finger bar mower as we were advised the peas tangle up drum mowers and mower conditioners just ball up. Grain loss wasn't so much of an issue as we cut at 13 weeks and everything was still milky and firm. We used the PZ HS360 to row up with very few revs on so as not to shatter the pea pods - again something we had been advised about. It seemed to work as I only found two broken pods. Biggest problem was settin the baler pick up low enough to collect it all without flicking soil in.

Just walked the field and no sign of any grains or peas! Will be interested to see how this ruminant rocket fuel turns out!
