Only ploughed the flat bit at bottom off that hill. Probably just shy off an acre. Only got plough thru the week. Struggled to get skimmers set so took them off as were causing more problems that they were worth. Fitted a set of skimmers of a ransomes horse plough just to see but haven't tried it yet

i can hear the tranny whining from here. :) well done for using it as intended. (y)
On Friday you likely could of heard me cursing at it too! She would plough for 5mins then start losing power then stop. Spoke to John Donnelly (Donnaghmore magnetos and engineering) who told me it was the mag getting weak when warmed up. So I went up on Saturday and got a recon magneto. Totally transformed the tractor. Ran on Sunday for 5 hours with out a cough

A couple of Deutz tractors now owned by a friend

This one we had and it was so good, I was happy to sell it to a friend, Dave.

It has an interested story as to how and why we ended up with it. About 25 years ago, I was looking for a 4WD 80HP tractor and I decided to go to Cambridge to see what they had got. The owner of this Farm, Hamish, had never been to the Cheffins machinery sales and wanted to come too. Also our local (as it happens, Deutz) Dealer Fred Reynolds asked he could come for a day out too.
When we got to Sutton, we looked at what they had got and this Deutz was there, just about the only one of that make at the auction. Fred took a look and said it was a good tractor, worth about £4,500 and we should consider buying it. Hamish asked if he could do the bidding and we agreed the limit of £4.5K.
The bidding started at £2.5K, but was reduced to £1,000 before Hamish put his hand up. It then rose in £100 amounts until it got to £1,500.
At which point Hamish stopped and asked “Richard and Fred, can you see anyone else bidding?”
The Cheffins Auctioneer knew me quite we and suddenly went bright red in the face. He then looked from me to Hamish and said “Sir, you are the only one bidding and the tractor hasn’t reached reserve yet!”
The rest of the crowd were pissing themselves with laughter, by this time!!
“OK” said Hamish, “How much is the reserve?”
“£2,500” said the Auctioneer.
“Done!” said Hamish. “We’d have been here all day if I hadn’t stopped and asked!”

The present owner Dave, has treated her like a baby. Everything works on it. As is her younger sister, which is also a pleasure to drive.

Chap local to me( know passed) went With his lorry and mate to Cambridge. Sole reason to buy a scraper tractor with a cab. Got there late and the only thing left in budget was a Leyland which was purchased and pushed on the lorry as it wouldn't start. Stopped in the services on the way home and discovered they'd lost the top half of the cab somewhere on the motorway

Has it been cordoned off because it's a crime scene ? :ROFLMAO:
No. Dave and his wife keep a couple of ponies. Dave looks after his tractors so well that he doesn’t want any teeth marks in the paintwork. He’d been chain-harrowing the paddocks and fenced it off to protect it.
I just hope nobody tell the ponies that the fence isn’t actually connected to any power!

I don't think that these are actually the correct weights for a 50 series @Cab-over Pete . I am fairly certain that style was what were fitted to 6000 series Deere's.

I reckon the weights on the 2850 in Storming's pic above look much better than the older weights which were shorter and lighter. So if you have the older style then in fact it's you who has the correct weights Pete.
