would yer owd brown not manage the baling rig Roy ,top yer tan up at the same time;)

rubbish to that, I like air conditioning :D also that patch was flat, the next 8 acres was very steep and I don't like balers rocking little tractors back and forth on a 1 in 4
Cannot just lay my hands on the manual at the moment but IIRCC the 456A Deere baler requires a minimum of 65hp tractor ?? correct me if I am wrong

operates the ram on the back of the baler which in turn pulls the rope to trip the rear gate on the sledge, save having to run the rope up to the cab, also on steep banks the sledge can take some tripping, but the hydraulic ram sorts that out

Has anyone tried using an electric actuator for this as an alternative to hydraulics? Just wondering if this would have the poer to pull short length of rope to open the gate.:scratchhead::scratchhead:

the ram on mine operates a lever arm to give it a quick tug, previous versions I have designed used just the ram and were not as good as this one, the worst thing is though, it is brilliant but designed and built by the previous baler owner, not by me :(

I am afraid I am just a miserable sod who wants to try and avoid using hydraulics due to cost of rams and hoses! Also I do have an actuator somewhere. I thought it might work to pull a rope on a lever as your version does.

i had not seen a ram on the baler to trip sledge before, any time i seen one with a ram it was on sledge
i hope to get my reacently purchased sledge going soon, but a rope will befine for me, for now at least

Surprised you didn't buy that TS 86 at the sale on Wednesday evening, it would have fitted very nicely to that tractor(y)

No, that tractor is the one I use for potato work and for sowing sweeds

I've got too much on, and not enough money to be buying TS86's, I have a classic plough waiting in the wings, perhaps it will make a debut next season, I need to start ploughing properly with what I have first though!!

On the tour yesterday came across an MB Trac with tanker attached just outside Horton in Ribblesdale. Was going to have a word with the driver but it was a dog sat on the drivers seat.
