Classics Earning their keep.

I've asked people to email questions, before - some people have such thick accents they make absolutely no sense whatsoever!

Just a few days before our farm sale My aunt came running into the yard looking very flustered and confused and she greeted me with the words "There's a man on the phone, I think he's Irish, I can't understand him, please would you come and have a word with him? ( When I picked up the phone I think the conversation started with "Well hello dere, its a long distance call from Ireland, I'm ringing to ask you about a couple of yer tractors yer selling in yer farm sale ") But the problem was that every time I tried to answer one of his questions (I had no trouble understanding his strong Irish accent by the way) he would reply " Er...what was dat dat you say?" :scratchhead:, in other words he could not understand ME, in fact no matter how slowly and clearly I tried to speak with him I kept getting the same reply "What was dat dat you say?":scratchhead:. So I thought "Sod it, here goes nothing" and I began to converse with him in the bestest "Father Ted" type Irish accent that I could muster ,( "Well now, I tells yer what, you'd better get yerself over here and have yerself a little bit of a look!" You know the sort of thing) I thought "OK if he is insulted and slams the phone down on me, so what, we aren't getting anywhere with this conversation anyway" Well well well, we had a right old natter after that, in fact he even jumped on the ferry and came to the sale (Whether he actually bought anything I can't honestly remember) What I do remember is when I had finished talking to him on the phone I found my aunt sitting on the sofa with a bright red face and with tears rolling down her cheeks with laughter ! She had overheard every word of the conversation : "I just don't know how you had the nerve to do that !" she said :ROFLMAO:

Its a G reg, so 1990ish. Off the top of my head there's about 6000 odd hours on the clock. I guess being 2WD meant it wasn't overworked in its previous lives, now lives on my 6 rotor tedder in the hay season, so not overly taxed now either. Just had a bit of work done, cracked piston I think, probably like it since we bought it, sounds very sweet now. 98hp according to Tractordata.

Not just a classic tractor here! Using an old Vicon vari-spreader to surface spread supplementary wild bird food for our MTS scheme

Works well at about 200 PTO RPM and travelling at about 3 - 4 MPH

This belongs to a friend. His pride and Joy and very well looked after. New Starter, Clutch, Tyres and Battery. Done about 3800 hours since new and serviced every year regardless. Trying to persuade him to sell it to me! How much do you think it is worth?
Box is included.

I'd say nearer or more like double that! But thanks anyway.

This reminds me of somebody I know who went on Antiques road show. The Beeb scouts round all the big houses trying to find something interesting to put on the show.

So they select this chap's Secretaire desk and ask him to bring it along. The chap does so, but is disappointing that John Bly isn't the guy who will evaluate it, but some you whippersnapper, fresh out of Antique college.

You know how everybody is surprised who much their antiques are worth? Not so this time:

The guy says the Secretaire is Venetian and worth a few thousand pound.
So the chap says "I think you'll find young man that it is Maltese and worth SUBSTANTIALLY more than that!"

The only person ever to have done so!!!!!
