Our 1993 or 94 built 895 was a lemon too for about 10 years luckily weve sorted it now.Exactly like the one we had with the O/S rear tyres. Unfortunately ours wasn't very 'faithful' at all (In fact it was a lemon) and it got traded in a for a Renault after 5 years. It was one of the last 674 tractors ever built and at the time IH were turning out some real rubbish, having a fair amount of 'Industrial action' by their workers didn't help matters much.
It ran hot since we got it if it worked hard and we couldnt sort it. Until we managed to poke a hole in the radiator somehow and had to get a complete new one. It came with a different bracket to hold the intercooler about 6 inches away from the radiator whereas the last one was tight to the radiator. It never heated again!
It broke bearings and oil seals in the 4wd drop box for fun every 4 or 5 years when it was in being done for the second time dad noticed that one of the bearings was a little bit off. After putting a straight rod through it was well off the mark. The casting had been drilled wonky so the bearing would go then mess up everything in the drop box new casting was taken off a dead ih tractor and its been fine ever since. There were some niggling electrical problems too but they have either been fixed too. Its a completley different tractor now its great 8000 hours and counting. its like everyone told us it would be like when it was bought
