A bit bumpy but I don't go that fast anyway
Maybe non common rail fuel'Classic' to ploughing means pre-Q cab, 1979 ish. Does the new 'classic' have to be pre-AdBlue?
Nice setup. Glad to see you keeping the bales off the ground. Any details of the sledge please? Drop my haylage bales as singles and then have to put into 8’s in order to avoid soil contamination.View attachment 894871View attachment 894891View attachment 894892View attachment 894893A few from yesterday's small bale haylage, I took the headlands off in round bales.
I'd never even thought of air pockets. I'm still trying to think of a cost effective way of making small bale haylage less labour intensive. It's a Cooks belted sleigh I've just got it to try and reduce the amount of times I ha e to handle the bales. I was using an old 21 bale grab to bring them in but need a better grab. Dont want to use a flat 8 with the hooks for fear of the holes making air pockets.
That'll be expensive for all it is. I looked at a 9 bale clamp made by Pomi,View attachment 895298Seen seen this on at a show in NI .

but it was also expensive for a bit of steel and 2 rams. Will probably end up making something myself.
Good question! I haven't bought any wrap this year but around £1.10-1.20 if I remember correctly. We were using 360mm green Silotite and applying 6 layers. They're expensive to wrap for the amount that's in them. What is the cost of the wrap on one of these bales?
Many years ago we used to use a 4 on top of 4 sledge, I think it was a cooks too, used to pick them up with a squeezer on a an MF industrial. It was hard to stack to travel and we normally ended up hand stacking, particularly on trucks leaving the farm but it did work, and no air pockets not that wrapping had been inventedIt's a Cooks belted sleigh I've just got it to try and reduce the amount of times I ha e to handle the bales.
