I was putting osr in here, pro till 3m trailed, legs in quite deep, well deeper than for wheat. Good tough soil.

That's a bit more than we were using putting osr in at 8 inches with the claydon 9 l/ ha .. it's probably an unfair comparison to make unless they are in the same field.

I think it’s a great drill but it’s no coincidence that you see big horse power on the front of them, I’ve 230 and can make it use all of them at times, like I say, great drill, lots of settings to get the job right but HP hungry.

You need the two drills in the same field for it to be a fair comparison and also then follow it through to the combine the leading leg there's no comparison as to the work they do I think that on the right ground you could get away with the claydon but it there's work needed then Mzuri is needed

Your quite right in what you say up to a point ,. The same could be said about the mzuri , The claydon does less than a mzuri so In My eyes it's doing a lot more .

Very different amounts of steel underground. Sorry about the Spaldings images - they were the best I could find.

Your more then entitled to your opinion and claydon sell plenty but I've had both and I'm sure the Mzuri is doing more for my soil/crops with maybe the next stop zero till who knows I just found smearing on front leg and really struggled with seed depth

Each to there own and what works on one place might not work on the other. Zero till is the Nirvana we should all hope to aspire to I'm hoping they will let us in the funny handshake 750a club in the next year or too.

Does anybody with a mzuri know there diesel usage per h/a
Depends on previous crop, soil type and whether previous crop had a subsoiler in front. At current oil prices, in medium soil with some moisture, around £1.50 an acre for diesel.

The disc is just a question of faith.. I would always recommend the leg for osr/ bean drilling. Saying that we have used the disc before to drill beans as a experiment.. You are quite right about getting a good roller man.
Btw those apm legs are very good for getting the extra depth 7inch A shares are no trouble as well.
The local garden centre picks our stones off for free, we hardly have any stones now

Seen one in a dealer s add .
I made a mistake and bought a 4m free flow in a sale [emoji20] done 25 ac with it . It s not for our land to many stones for it .should have gone strip till as was the original plan . But could not resist a bargain.
Never mind, use it as a top tilth

On friable soils both drills are about the same. If you have stronger soils and need to drill late then look elsewhere.

I would beg to differ on these drills being the same on friable soils, people talk about the claydon ridging too much a lot of that is down to operator error going to fast . after the mzuri demo we had in 2014 we are still putiing the land right after the hideous trenches and mountains it left. it also couldn't deal with chopped straw in the same way a claydon could.
also im not sure why you would run a subsoiler in front of a machine that already has a winged tine ?

I was saying that the fuel consumption varies and would be lower where the previous crop had been subsoiled the year before. This forum member hasn't got a mzuri yet so previous crop may or may not have been subsoiled
