I know the mods are to improve the drill to what you want it to be and from previous postings of mods on your last drill the work was done to a very high standard. But I dont think i could bring myself to attack a new drill with a mig and a plasma cutter lol!

Won't be too bad, if it was here it would get attacked with 9 inch grinder and a stick welder

Looks good Clive,(y)
Lets guess, Guttlers, adj rear axle and big single flotations, seed dressing intake auger, avadex/pellets applicator and fitting of the fert kit to do?

The full list -

Fert tank from old drill will be fitted first, this is not going to be as straight forward on a 6m as it was on the 4m and might involve lengthening the chassis but we are trying to avoid that if possible

The rear loading platform will be lifted and lengthened and the Stocks Wizard fitted (for avadex) and a folding boom made to 6m.

A stocks micro meter venturi hopper will sit along side that on the extended platform

The hopper will be extended about 500cm and a folding hydraulic auger fired for filling

A set of Gutlers from Wox then to go on

weaving air bleeds to coulter tubes

a replumb of distribution heads to work from and rear vs left and right - this allows use to drill wide space OSR if required and also drill our Peaola mix in one pass at 2 separate depths

finally a seed blockage monitors system (ISO I hope but TBA)

Then the Germans are flying over to fit ISO to the drill that they forgot to do at the factory !

Will post pics as things progress, its not in my workshop, we are having a bit of help with this as want it done to a factory standard of finish

That's some hopper extension, hope you have no low bridges!

Looks a very nice drill, should look even better with all your extra bits and pieces.

hopper height will remain below the folded wings, not sure what that measurement is exactly yet but its quite a lot above where it comes standard

Is there an issue using air vents with a blockage monitor? If a coulter blocks and the seed comes out the vent the blockage monitor won't warn you as the seed is still flowing past it.

Hi @Clive you mention a 500cm hopper extension, by my quick working out that should give you about another tonne of wheat/barley capacity making it easily hold two tonne in total? Is that about right?

Also is any strengthening required for this extra weight or is it ok to take it as it is? The reason I ask I have been thinking of doing exactly the same to my 6m 750a drill.

Thanks

don't really care about warranty, I know these machines now, there is nothing to go wrong really and dealer support is of no relevance or use to me

Would it be better to mount the fert tank on the front. 3 point linkage and run pipes back to the drill, it would save you cutting the drill around or bending the drill frame with the weight. In a few years time, when you've built up your OM, you won't need the starter fert. You probably won't need slug pellets or avadex either!

Did you consider getting one in from the US at all? I suppose that 9m that was brought across also required quite a bit of modification.

tank can go front linkage or back depending on where I want the weight or come off totally if not required at all , its just on a 3pt linkage, I can see a future using it for biologicals rather than just conventional nutrition, Things will grow without seedbed N but I have found they are better still with it and seedbed S seems to be the key to slug control here as well as a nice side effect

no slug pelter, already don't need them ! can't see me never needing to control grass weeds so the avadex will be there long term I think, its a very simple and cheap way to control grass weeds and my only autumn herbicide

where ever I may get to in a few years time, I'm not there yet so need solutions to make things work today and not just in the future :)

USA drill is way over UK transport width, making them UK road legal is a big job and wanted a new wear free drill not a used

also way over capacity and back to needing HP and therefore heavy tractors - a 6m is good for at least 4000ac of work IMO and if I ever need more capacity than a 6m can cope with I will simply buy another 6m to run alongside it

sounds about right from my calc - frame is built to hang weight from rear frame anyway but it will be strengthened as well just to be on the safe side, the fert tank will be braced back to centre of the drill which will also ad frame strength
