Seems un accompanied freight can travel but not passengers or drivers

Yep, gonna be a mess - pretty busy time of year for fruit and veg / salads into Spalding area. I note many supermarkets now operating 24 hours for next 3 days - that might be fun! Not sure what veg will get stocked. Hey ho. Might be the sprouts all get eaten!!

New virus already reported in 2 other European countries. I’ll bet it’s in others already and either not detected or (more likely) not admitted

A vet told me once, by the time you find an outbreak of a particular disease, once you look back over the preceding couple of months, then you put the puzzle together you can see that it has been on the farm undetected, as you weren't aware of it earlier

It will certainly be present in all EU countries - there was a piece on the BBC World Service news earlier. But of course this is like Italy February rerun, except it is starting in the UK. And it will be a few days or weeks before the new variant gets going in the other European countries. Just that an opportunity to flex a few poltiical muscles by banning freight as well as people movement out of UK into EU. EU know UK is heavily dependent on EU sourced fruit and veg - so I am tad suspicious of the underlying motive - and that is from a non Brexiter. Hey ho.

Looking at my local mozzers today, its already started. Tinned stuff cleared out. Happy days.
Had a Tesco delivery today, normal fortnightly shop which doesn’t really change much and only 2/3 was delivered, driver said it’s the same on most things, hams, salami, bread, Tuna. There weren’t even replacements it was just not available 🙈

My money says it is already far too late to shut borders, just as it was far too late to shut the borders back in February.
They were a month to late shutting borders in February BUT there was no testing system back then, if they had a Covid test back then they should have grounded everything and then tested people before flying.
Apparently China is Covid free? 🤷🏻‍♂️

The virus was across the world in December. I'd put money on it and I have two sources to suggest as much.
