Clover failure

Seeded a field with a irg, crimson clover mix early may, it germinated brilliantly, the clover especially, conditions have been perfect, but it now appears that the clover part of the mix has died/withered away and pretty much disappeared.
Any ideas what could of happened?

You say Clover mix ?
How thick is the grass , Clover don't like competion early on , i put crimson with brasicas somtimes, but brasicas will take it out if to thick , also what's the spray history , Clover won't come if Hurler been used in the last 12 month for instance

Did you byvany chance mix 24D with the roundup or used it , that has a big effect on Clover germination, or could take it out once germinated , I've learn that to my cost , or as someone put it , you should read the label

I put a couple of fields of a similar mix in 2 years ago. One field came well, the other had pretty much all the Crimson clover taken out by slugs, despite the liberal application of slug pellets, several times. I broadcast some Redstart rape over it to try to give a bit more bulk, and the slugs didn't touch that for some reason, just the clover. I had DD'ed Redstart on 10ac just over the hedge as well, which was also untouched by slugs.

Definitely isn't any competition, no hurler been used either, it came really well but just disappeared now

This was the field 12 days ago after it had been drilled 10 days and it's probably had 50mm of rain since
