CNH cab suspension

Morning,
I noticed whilst trawling the web in search of some new shock absorbers for my Puma cvx cab, that the maxxum/t6 shocks are slightly different than the Puma/t7 ones, is there a reason for this?
Would I be better buying the maxxum ones as I’ve heard the smaller models ride better.
Surely the cab is identical?
Thanks

The cab is the same but where do they mount to? I’m sure the axle would be different

Might be worth thinking along these lines
Althought those air bags will suit t6 cabs

There are several different part numbers for shocks for the new Holland cabs, they are all the same size for TSA's T6000's T7000's T6's T7's and the T8's. I can only think the spring rating is changing as time goes on in order to improve the ride. I think the latest ones might be on a progressive spring. The Monroe catalogue lists Case and NH as different part numbers on what appears to be a shorter spring for the case. This is the new Holland one. It would be interesting to know if the Case one is different, if any one has one to measure? My guess would be the latest ones would ride the best?

Presume I couldn't measure one that's fitted as presume weight of cab will have it compressed abit

Its not that easy without taking the wheel off but the NH ride height is around 390 mm. kramp seem to list them as the same. I think I might be confusing the different shocks with the old cvx that was the original Styer. I would have thought that anything using the horizon cab is the same.

I tried new shocks on my maxxum to see if it improved the ride and it didn't.

The main problem was that by the time the springs/shocks actually started to work the cab was on the stops (I'm not the lightest of people). Even without anyone in the cab the gap between the cab and the rubber stop was only enough to slide your hand between.
Part of the problem is the soft rubber bushes they fit in the ends of the shocks.

My first job was to change these for proper metal bonded bushes. I found some the exact same diameter as the original ones in my local motor factors, they are Nissan??? Front wishbone bushes.
This improved the ride and travel but it still wasn't enough so I machined some new eyes to weld on top of the existing shocks to increase there length by about 2 inches.

It was tight to get the shocks fitted and I had to have the cab fully raise and then I still had to compress the shocks slightly to get them to fit aswell as trim a half inch off the rubber between the cab and bonnet but the ride now is completely different and 10 time better than it ever was before.

Good idea! I’ve always thought the amount of travel was the issue with the cnh cab, why couldn’t they do this in the factory?? Seems like the simplest solution to a poor design.
