Cnh trimble auto steer

Have a case ih puma 230cvx steer ready from the factory which was fitted with second hand nh rtk auto steer equipment almost 2 years ago.
Has never worked right since it was installed. It just won't drive straight.

It can be up to 30cm off line at times but is mostly 3.5-15cm off line. It is like it can't acquire the AB line and just meanders around it snaking back and forward. It is no good for cereal drilling and definitely no good for ridging up tattie land.

Was thought that the vaderdtad rapid drill was the issue at first, this was upgraded to a spirit this year and it still does it. Tried driving on bare stubble a month or so ago at drilling speeds of 10-15kmh with nothing on the tractor and you could see the weaving in the wheelmarks

Has anyone had similar issues and had it resolved?

Hi. Sorry, I’m no expert and can’t remember much without being sat in front of a AFS screen. Have you set it to the run on rtk or is it trying to pick up basic egnos as a default setting? I know my tractor had to be told to pick up rtx rangepoint, it wouldn’t do it automatically.

Who installed it and set it up?

I would think professionals like soil essentials or a Case or New Holland dealer should be able to get it working properly.

If you want any settings I have rtk on my t7 260.

Have you done a calibration test on the nav controller on dead level ground where you mark a point on the floor, carry on driving then turn around stopping at the mark and measuring how far off you are?
Have you tried altering the steering aggression?
There's is another setting which i think alters the oil flow in the valve, its called the "p gain" setting.

All done by a NH dealer.
They are at a loss as well.
Had new angle sensor, wiring, updated software several times.
Tried different nav controllers, and dome as well.

When we fitted the gps to our 270 with the oil driving the fan on the drill i had the same as you described. They increased the p gain figure and it cured it. Something to do with the steering valve not getting enough oil.
Try a nav controller calibration again

It's doing it with no implements on it. No hydraulic fan running to cause any issues with it. It's like it isn't telling the valves to open and correct the steering until far too late.

I’ve had a couple of similar problems with my Puma so I’ll share in case they are relevant, first was investigated under warranty at great lengths and expense, turned out to be the wire going to the axle, it was pinched, not broken, just pinched and you couldn’t tell, but the lad said it meant the wire wasn’t sending the correct amps, new bit of wire and the problem went, that was unusable before, like you described, like it couldn’t keep the A-B line. Second problem was recent, it was taking ages to find it’s line and sometimes failing to find it, would show a errors codes etc, that turned out to be something in the pressure relief valves, found by chance but cleaning the valves and the problem hasn’t returned.

P-Gain is set to zero on mine, am running RTX which seems fine but it will weave sometimes for no real reason and the rest of the time is straight. Running at full aggressiveness. I have RTK and Ez steer type system on the other tractor and that is arrow straight drilling up to 20kph with a Vaddy

Try altering the p gain.
If set too low it will wander.
If set too high it will be really jerky and constantly flick the wheels to try to stay precisely on line.

That's for steering valves, I don't know if it changes the steering motor action or not.

It's all set up for the model of tractor and when checking the centre mark with a pointer through the drawbar to a marker on the ground it is dead on. Within 1-4mm normally.

My p gain is on 10 and aggressive is on 100%. This is on a 270.
Looking at your picture the aggressive box is blank showing 50%, mine is black halfway up to the red mark

Is the arrow on the screen pointing straight ahead as you go down the field or is it crabbing sideways?
