I built a small cold room earlier this year..2mx2x2..
The local refrigeration folk supplied the compressor.,which is on the outside of the shed and the chiller and fan unit on the inside.
The compressor kicks in and out according to the the temp required..but the fan on the inside runs continuously...using about 100w
Is this right...seems a bit of a waste of leccy to me
The guys who fitted it don't seem that clued up about it!!
Any advice appreciated.
It's for storing strawbs...mostly around 8c for short term storage

Wouldn't that be switched on and off with compressor

Kidd's..thanks,I know it won't break the bank but during my delivery rounds I walk into a few fridges and not all have the fan running continuosly.
I just wonder if I'd bought a ready made cold store how it would have been set up.

Also surely the fan motor generated some heat...which makes the compressor switch on more often than it should.
I have a wireless thermometer inside the store and it does need cooling regularly...even though we used 2 sheets of kingspan all around.

From memory, all but in industrial size cold rooms, the fans run all the time except for a timed defrost
The temp probe needs careful siting ie not in front of the fan in an icy blast but not near a door giving warmer readings
I remember EHO inspection and they pointed an infra red thermometer at the fan and tried to tell me the fridges were way to warm … yes the fan motors create heat 😖
