Cold weather?

Have been hearing a lot of rumours lately about a long cold spell with snow coming before Christmas. So far I haven't heard it mentioned on any weather forecast. Is there any truth in it, or has anyone else heard this?

Sorry this made me laugh. ''''Rumours... not in a weather forecast.... '''' why don't you watch a reputable forecaster - Simon for example, you haven't got very far to go, but always bear in mind, it is a forecast and the further ahead, the less reliable it is likely to be. 'Is there any truth in it'. We won't know until the time. It's a weather FORECAST, not a certainty.

And by the way, we're nearly at mid November so cold weather is not unexpected!

there was talk a while back that there would be a lot of snow in november.
lots of berries and a shedload of acorns about this year too, apparently that means its going to be a hard winter.
we shall see, all the forecasts i've seen recently have been wrong, more so than usual.
Is there a reason for this?

Absolute twaddle depends on conditions in the spring/summer and adequate insects to pollinate for the berries. And a lot of our hawthorn has no berries this year as we are in a frost pocket and we must have just caught one at flowering - so does that mean everyone else has a hard winter but we don't??
