Coldplays world tour.

They’re “powering the concert” with a combination of a giant mobile battery, and “a floor that captures the kinetic energy of the crowd”.

But the battery will need to be charged, so why not just power the concert direct from the grid and cut out the ‘battery’?
And both the massive battery and ‘floor’ will need to be hauled across the Americas and Europe in multiple trucks and shipping containers. And as mentioned already, Chris Martin is refusing to give up his private jet for the duration of the tour.
So instead of his planned attempt to greenwash his carbon footprint, it has highlighted the fact that he’s nothing more than just another virtue signalling celebrity desperate for attention.

If you want to see the very definition of ‘greenwashing’ and ‘virtue signalling’, take a look at their web site 🤮
I'm looking forward to the full life cycle analysis of the tour including all the embedded carbon and the journeys and waste their fans generate.

Carbon neutral. Going to plant a tree with every ticket sold. To offset there private plane journeys around the world.

So have they bought up loads of land to do this or have they done a deal with a 3rd party to plant the trees?

Theres going to be some fingers burnt with this tree planting thing all over the world because areas are going to be sold over and over again so in years to come these big companies might just find out they haven't actually planted any trees at all and instead just paid for trees already planted and paid for by somebody else.

This may be but second hand, but I was told recently that Ryanair's offset programme amounted to the purchase of one 7ha woodland, already existing, in Ireland.

It is all complete, total and utter bullocks.

If they haven't got the deeds to it then it never happened!

Rather than planting trees they need something with sound science behind it, that produces quantified benefits year on year. Chris and the boys should purchase carbon credits from a DD farmer (y) .

Say what you like about Coldplay, but having been among 70,000 others watching them live at Wembley to say he isn’t a showman is absolute nonsense.

Looking forward to next Friday to get tickets to his next tour for the wife, kids and I.

Whoever said he’s not a proper star becuase he isn’t dead is sick and deluded.

How is this any different to any other band going on tour , or footballers playing in European cups and taking 1000s with them, or overseas cricket tours which seem to occur constantly .
If you want to ban everything, life will be pretty boring .

Don’t think anyone suggested that, more that all the green one-upmanship involved in the tour is in actual fact a load of old bollox.
Plus it’s turned there’s quite a lot of folk who don’t like the music 🤣
