Colin’s teleshift

I know it's been a year !! but I thought it would maybe make sense to add to this thread - I'm also interested in any Collins bits that are available...but my question is re the transmission dipstick - I haven't (yet) taken the top plate off to investigate but I get a metallic rattling from time to time and it looks like something is loose and rubbing on the dipstick (pictured) any ideas/warnings before I attempt to take it to bits....ps it's a TS440.

Takes me back to a Muck Show at Stoneleigh in late 80's:
The chap demonstrating the Collins got hopelessly stuck while piling muck up. Once he'd extricated himself using the telescopic boom to push himself out, the Sanderson and JCB boys took the pee by successfully driving axle deep in muck! Didn't do Collins sales too much good.

That surprises me....

The big wheeled chassis always seemed pretty good off-road to me :) A local veg farm ran two in the fields, as they worked well!

Also I think it depends if it was the 2wd or 4wd version! I rather like my 4wd but then I'm biased I guess and it was cheap as chips to buy plus it came with about half a ton of free manure in the cab! Do you still have any bits floating around @steveR ??

Can we get more pics? Maybe some from underneath. It looks like a Ford 6600 engine to me. If it has a Ford back axle there should be a level plug about half way down the corner of the central part of the back axle on right side of that, or left side as it would have been on the tractor.

It’s only a guess but the transmission was perhaps a Borg Werner 4 speed? Pics will help.
