Sounds a bit like the supermarkets buying boat loads of lamb from NZ in when it’s peak season here, unless it’s maize or sunflower or something we don’t grow I can’t see why they would need to put wheat/barley or rape anywhere near here. Unless of course the boat is taking back something useful for the Ukrainians but I thought that was banned 🤷‍♂️
The maize is only brought in because they have hoovered up all the barley and exported Ito create a shortage so they "have" to get the maize in.

If these people had a shred of decency about them, those boats could easily have been redirected to where Minnette said it was "desperately needed".

Of course you can but dont forget the extra £200t for shipping and insurance.
They are now looking at exporting more than just grain .
With a reported 10,000000 people having left Ukraine will they need as many
dairy cows now?
I thought they wanted to buy cows as many have not been milked and or bombed. Milks short here so i doubt they will want ours, the dutch have a few surplus to demand though

Early harvest. Big UK crops. Lots of pressure to move.

First load of Ukrainian grain rejected this afternoon.

Big merchant stocks of old crop being held for August delivery clashing with early harvest.

Crumbs. Humanitarian aid to feed a starving world! The Lebanese racked with millions of displaced Syrian refugees and the odd Saudi prince who likes the nightclubs of Beirut doesn't want it. And ships bound for the starving masses in Teesport, Dublin and Genoa. What is a simple Fen lad like me to make to make of it. Never did understand the world. What will the red wall voter make of it. What will Brenda in Barnsley make of it when her leccy bill quadruples and she is full of cold come winter. What does Minette have to say!?

Who are these philanthropists buying boat loads of grain as humanitarian aid to feed the poor? That suggestion was always nonsense. Freeing up these supplies will maybe help some people somewhere as it depresses the price a bit, but it won’t help farmers anywhere except Ukraine. I’d imagine many governments are glad it’s helping to reduce food price inflation and put our primary food producers bsck in their rightful place (serfdom) and that was probably the political driver behind it.
