China is supposed to hold about half the world wheat stocks. Again, depends if you trust their official government stats. I gave up looking at former eastern Bloc government statistics when I found out how bulls**t they were.

Indeed. Who really knows what stocks the Chinese hold? Not even most Chinese, I think. What condition are those stocks in? They are supposed to beholding well over half the world's maize stocks but these were bought years ago & I hate to think what the mycotoxin levels are like in that now. Is it even fit for bioethanol?? The Chinese are supposed to be holding half the world's wheat stocks too but that will never hit the trade market.

Look at what the key exporters of maize and wheat hold in stock and the picture is very different. In the past, these would have been the main price drivers in the market.

Where are we with osr price of the combine, sold at 326 plus bonus last year, would be nice too get near that again with the bloody hassle it is to grow.

Re the unknown Chinese pig situation, American market analysis (WASDE etc) indicates the chinese demand for soya and related products is holding up better than anticipated. Nobody seems to quite know why. It is known that there is a massive ramp up in chicken meat infrastructure underway, but surely it is not in production yet? Same for huge, vertically integrated, better bio-security orientated pork production .

Weather
Too wet in some places
Too dry others
Too hot others
Some place both

Was it over sold with profit taking
Consumers and farmers standing back ?

Longer term rises always take breath dip then rise again

In eastern england we are in an unknown yield situation all previous June’s with more than 100mm of rain have given lower yielding crops with low quality this June 140mm so far
We are most likely to have a later start to harvest for feed wheat
If it turns out later a tight early August market will give good spot movement price premium

Still not a bad price to have a clear out of your grain store
I would transfer it to another store and get the main store cleaned I have some NC Sept contracts it could go on, obviously this will only work for me if NC goes up which is anyone's guess at the moment. It's our local chemical supplier's open day tomorrow and I will be picking a few peoples' brains there.
