Good price, I only managed 183 full spec going next weeksold full spec mailing yesterday to go next week £195 , happy and need cash for rent
Yes why keep it for 2 months for a negative carry?I got £165ex back pre harvest. £168 Nov is crap.
Can’t see 250 is going to be on the cards, I’m 50+% sold in the 180’s will sell the rest as soon as it starts with a 2I have 250 in mind for Gp1, currently imports about 205. Do I have much support at that level ?
Smallest crop in long Long time, wet harvest many quality issues, green grain low protein etc etc.
What's so good about wheat as a feed to be trading at £48/t more than feed barley?
Talking about Monogastrics, are you considering hybrid Rye?No doubt a merchant would say that feed wheat is too expensive vs feed barley that is competing with zero tariff maize imports! The nutrient value difference is around £25-30/t but 9 months ago feed barley was trading at a premium to feed wheat.
There are limits to how much substitution you can do in monogastric rations but for ruminants you can pretty well put most things in that provide the energy, protein etc at the cheapest price.

Should I let you know next year?Does it perform on clay soils?
did you get any prices?Got a wanted text from my ADM merchant for feed and milling oats on wednesday
They weren’t that forthcoming sorry and since I don’t grow oats I didn’t ask.....did you get any prices?
No probs, thanks for response anyway. Had a quick chat with buyer yesterday hinted around £140. Sent samples off so will wait and see. They weren’t that forthcoming sorry and since I don’t grow oats I didn’t ask.....
When I grew potatoes I approached a few fish and chip shops to see if we could agree a standard price to even out the peaks and troughs and they thought it a good idea, ask them if another farmer or merchant came and under cut the price in a glut year they all said well we’d be mad not to switch, the other name for the above is a contract!Tricky isn't it. My brother probably uses loads of grain for his chickens. I grow lots of grain. But I am for top price and he would want lowest. Must be a mechanism so we both win.
if its proper heavy slow draining clay, then triticale might be betterDoes it perform on clay soils?
