1. I got £188 on the long pool last year when fert was £215/t, so the comparison of £220 and £680 still doesn't look good to me.
2. As well as fert chems are up too.
3. If you want to add it in, fuel is up from 55p/l to 70p.
4. Machinery prices are 10% up ot more from last year in most cases.
5. BPS is still in the bank so I don't yet need the cash.

You crack on but I imagine if you had anything to sell you're already sold out.
Thing is though, and although I don't totally agree with Mr D n G as I think he lives up to his user name a little. What you need, isn't always what you get, I must admit I have cashed out at £230.00 I have no Idea whether I am right or wrong but I do know that will leave me a substantial profit on 2020 harvest, FFS it works out at roughly £1030.00 an acre, with straw and BPS, if someone were to offer me that for 22 harvest now, I will take their hands off.
I won't talk about OSR though which I sold far to early :(

I've pretty much cashed out now for Wheat and Barley @ £230 ton, beans £254.

Will have a little bit of barley and wheat left over.

Worst wheat price of the year £184. Average for the year £208

If it drops below £200 next year it won't be v profitable with current fert etc.

I won't average over £200.00 :( started selling to early. I think I will Just scrape 4t though, so on a fairly low cost system I am more than happy with my return.
Also my N costs have gone up by £30.00 an acre or hopefully sub £10.00t if my fag packet calculations are correct. £200.00/t next year will leave a decent profit at 4t but there will be other inflationary costs and there's no guarantee I will get 4t, there is also no guarantee that we will get over £200, just because we need it doesn't mean we will get it, unfortunately.

Thing is, it's easy to say "I've sold everything at X and I don't know why everybody else did".

Currently, I've over £100 spread between my highest and lowest sales of the season. And selling at £150 and at £252 were both good ideas at the time. Incidentally the prevailing views of the merchants were:

At £150 the country was awash with wheat in the ground and we could make money at that.

At £252 there weren't really any signs to sell but might as well do some as it's over the trigger price. Markets were underpinned and couldn't see much downturn.

So what on earth can you do but do the best on the day?

Exactly this. Do what's right for you on the day.
