As you like. There's as much upside as there is downside. At this time of year, we'd be in a weather market which assures volatility anyway, before this virus malarkey came along.

I'm with you here, values are about where we wanted them to be, and way better than they were in October. It seems mad to me not to take a bit of cover at these prices.

Can someone tell me, if the ethanol prices are low, is there a chance we could get flooded with cheap maize this winter? can the USA logistically send 5 million tons of maize to the UK? I sold the rest of 19 wheat today

What is going to bring this about..?
In the last few days' its' been to a low of $1-14 then a bounce to $1-25, is the UK economy strong enough to ride thru the virus storm and take the pound higher...........be a brave man to predict that.

There will surely be a lot being used in hand sanitizers even if there is less alcohol being drunk

the usa is now the epicentre of the virus, it stands to reason with american businesses shut down and trillion dollar bailouts that it will be financially weakened the most?

That's a punchy shout sir.... [emoji106]

fortune favours the brave (sometimes). i’m already a lot better off had I sold at harvest. i’ve sold within 5% of the top for 6 years straight now apart from last year when I was 10% off (brexit really confused me !). We work with a very good trader who seems to never be too far out with his advice and I spend a lot of time researching what’s actually going on around the world to sense check his thinking

i’ts not just hope, it’s a considered view of the current situation, not always right but best thinking in the day we make a call is all you can sleep at night with

h19 sales to date are all osr £340 plus bonuses

x10 loads of E wheat at £190-195 sold in jan for april (loading next few weeks).

long way to go yet !!

nothing sold for h20 at all apart from a linseed contract

That E wheat looks cheap Clive .
Good to see you dont always hit the top ;)

it’s was £150 feed plus the bonus sold late Jan - it’s not gone yet so not sure all will be full spec etc. was a good price at the time. The rest would be north of £200 today if I sold

premiums not so good on e wheat next year sadly so have less in the ground for h20 - as is always the case for milling nice niches get spoilt by the masses !

The American Dollar is the most universally traded currency 60%
Yes it was devalued some with their injection on new money
but wait to see what happens here regarding business closures
and unemployment.
it will be a miracle if we avoid a recession or worse ,you will then see
who regards the pound as a safe haven.

recession (global) is certain - no currency is safe, gold, and other commodities the safest place to be

one reason i would rather own a big pile of grain right now than have “cash” in the bank

grain is the ultimate currency!

Don't quite see it like that, the epicenter for corona is New York, major cities due to density, but out across the country life although disrupted is carrying on, This is going to be a major jolt to the world economy but feel sure we will all come thru it, what the future will look like is open to speculation but regardless the U.S. Dollar will still dominate.

You would be right but the USD is the worlds reserve currency. Most world debt is in USD. Why the FED has to provide new liquidity on an ongoing basis...can't see the dollar falling out of bed at the moment.
