In a years time, £150 could be the equivalent of £120 now, if we have 20% inflation in the meantime. Something that's been unimaginable for a couple of decades, but go back a couple more and it was the norm.

I'd say three weeks no rain is going to cause serious hassle to heavy land spring barley where land was dragged up, baked and bashed to small bricks.
What are fellow farmers thoughts on the up coming harvest and grain prices ...Will the affects of Covid 19, depressed beef and sheep prices have a say on the market.. I’ve nothing sold forward which would be unusual for me ... crops over the winter had me worried and now I can’t make my mind up !! Is it a year to hold longer and see if there’s more upward movement... Any views would be of interest! Thank you all ...
I'm selling nothing, and rolling winter barley into 2020/21.
Bugger all winter barley about around here and a lot of SB gone into dusty dry seedbeds, think emergence is going to be interesting, esp where stuff was ploughed/baked/power harrowed, so much moisture was lost during that period when we had the Easterly winds.Do you think barley will be short? sh!t loads of spring barley sown in these parts
I've split N1, but getting ready for N2 soon, early wheat is looking well at the moment.Winter wheat on heavy land will be ok awhile as far as water is concerned.....but getting N2 into it is about to be an issue. And yes agree on the barley.

I think the money that will be printed won’t filter into our hands for a good while, I’m also concerned about crops for ethanol coming into the food chain. My opinion is a drift down to £120 wheat at harvest, I’m not selling anything forward as concerned about getting nailed by low yields rather than missing out on high prices
Digestated area has had about 170kg total, but half the digestate has had no rain since application. No no issues there (except savage tramlines!!!)I've split N1, but getting ready for N2 soon, early wheat is looking well at the moment.
