In 2018 tried a load of maize and wasn't impressed with it.
We were feeding barley at time, not wheat. Wouldn't be in a hurry to buy/feed it again.

tracked combine runs on flailed haulm doesn't make a huge mess, know of someone been growing it for years, often cut in jan/Feb.Is it succesful? I imagine some years it doesn't get combined!?

Merchants never fill stores because they are charities. They fill stores because sooner or later they will empty them at a fair profit.Stores are filling with wheat that mills aren't using - fish and chip batter mixes etc.
